Scientific Name: Alcides metaurus verso

Common Name: Zodiac Moth

Origin: Australia

FRame: 16.5 x 16.5 x D5cm

DESCRIPTION This is a largish moth - 100mm from North tropical Queensland Australia from the family Uraniidae. This adult moths colourations range from black with iridescent bands of yellow and/or pink whilst the verso is a lovely shade of blue. The larvae feed on Omphalea queenslandia and Omphalea papuana. They can be seen feeding on nectar and rest with their wings out.
